Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant hit by 15th blackout since occupation - RBC-Ukraine

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant experienced its 15th blackout on April 26, 2023, after the Ferroalloy-1 power line was disconnected, leading to reliance on 19 backup diesel generators for an hour and a half. Energoatom, the Ukrainian nuclear power operator, highlighted that this recurring power loss poses significant risks to nuclear and radiation safety in both Ukraine and Europe. The call for the plant's return under full Ukrainian control was reiterated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with IAEA head Rafael Grossi. This blackout follows a previous power loss on April 16, marking ongoing concerns for the facility since its occupation in 2022.
